Rock The Coliseum Performer Interview – Cindë

Cindë

Cindë, the Toronto-born singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, combines gritty guitar, hip-hop production, and a blunt, unapologetic approach to her lyricism in songs.

As a songwriter/producer, Cindë collaborated with viral Tik Tok star, Chiara Young, on her release of “Fake Friends” via Golden Carrot Records in Feb 2021, which made it onto several playlists including ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘It’s a Bop’. Cindë has several singles and co-writes in the pipeline for release.

Most recently, Cindë released the single, “I started smoking cigarettes because of you,” earlier in 2023.

Cindë is set to play Rock The Coliseum on August 5 at the Celebration Stage in Mississauga.

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi everyone!! I’m Cindë, an emo/pop punk artist and guitarist out of Toronto.

Tell us a bit about your recent release.

My most recent release was “I started smoking cigarettes because of you” which is a fun lil jab at a toxic relationship I was in and all the bad habits I used to cope.

You’re set to play Rock The Coliseum in Mississauga. Have you played at this festival before?

I have not yet but I’m super excited!! My band and I have a ridiculously fun time on stage and we always make sure everyone’s jumping around with us and feeling great too!

For someone who has yet to see you perform live, describe your performance in 5 words or less.

Unhinge your inner demons, bruthurs.

With an incredible Canadian lineup, who are you hoping to check out during the fest?

Sumo Cyco!!! I was a fan of Skye Sweetnam as a kid growing up watching her videos and interviews on Much Music. To play on the same bill definitely means a lot to me.

What’s your favourite thing about being a musician in Ontario?

I love the community of incredible artists across southern Ontario. There’s so much talent and support, and all creators and creations are so special in their own right. There’s something unique for everyone to love! The amount of artistic niche’s that Ontario covers makes us such a strong community for creatives worldwide. being from Toronto, there’s always so much eclectic inspiration to pull from.

Do you have any other festivals or shows to tell us about?

I recently performed for CMW and NXNE in Toronto, so Rock the Coliseum is my last show of the summer!

What’s up next for you in 2023?

I have an EP set to come out later this year and it’s filled with my most honest, heaviest, and special songs that I’ve ever written. I play a lot of these songs live already and the fans know the lyrics – it’s absolutely insane to feel that before anything has even hit the internet!! I can’t wait to release the project, I’m very proud of it.
