The sweet vibe and gently lilting sway of “What Ah Joy” lives up to its name, reminding us what a blessing, a lesson, and a message (to use The Memberz’ own words) it is to live in the light of love and unity. While bass player Carlton Dinnall croons the captivating chorus, Memberz lead singer Michael “Mavriq” Brown toasts his rapid-fire encouragement in the verses and Exco Levi fires off lyrical shots throughout. It’s a summer single if ever there was one.
“This song represents the meaning of joy in all aspects of life,” says Mavriq. “We chose the release date because it’s the birthday of both my daughter and our bandleader Roscoe’s grandmother. We hope it brings joy to everyone who hears it.”
The “What Ah Joy” accompanying lyrics video created in Uganda by Makaka KRITIC, vividly illustrates the essence of the song with a montage of the faces of joyful people.
