Halifax-based Hot Mondy recently unveiled their album, Best Laid Plans, which is about life and reckoning. It explores ideas about time, human nature, mental health, and the people the band has met along the way.
Recorded at Sonic Temple in Halifax, it took nearly two years to complete and features some of the finest musical talents in Canada. The vision for the album was to take each piece and find the right voice to tell the story; so uniquely, the album features six different lead vocalists, including Jah’mila, Buck Elliot, Christina Martin, and Kwento. These 11 tracks were then written into short scripts and shared with a team of visual artists to be distilled down into a graphic comic series that will accompany the music as an anthology. To their knowledge, this has never been done before.
With several single releases and an EP under their belt, Hot Mondy makes music for people who want to listen to albums cover-to-cover. Those who connect with artists that take risks, and those who embrace the new and the unexpected. That’s why you’ll only find their music on their website, Bandcamp, and select retailers.
