Zach's Picks

Zach’s Picks of the Week – December 12, 2022 to December 17, 2022

Zach's Picks

Welcome back, everybody, for the brand new music that we are here to share with you this Music Monday. These are Zach’s Picks Of The Week”, a hand-selected batch of fantastic articles and talented musicians that I have chosen to feature this week for you. I enjoyed listening to all of these songs. I encourage you also to add them to your favourite playlist and share them with friends. You will get the chance to hear a short clip from each when you watch this week’s video. So let’s not waste your precious time. Let the new music begin!!

Five

Let’s get this show going with this incredible Windsor-based singer/songwriter, Kay Howl. She has shared her latest single, “The Times,” plus a music video to accompany its release. The track is the lead single from Kay’s upcoming sophomore album. So make sure you stay tuned for the new music coming soon, but enjoy “The Times” on all streaming services now. But you can explore our latest Five Questions with Kay Howl, learn more about her and enjoy her music video right here.

Four

Moving into our next recommendation will be with an indie artist Softlung, who’s released a music video for their second single, “The Other Side.” That new single can be found on all of your favourite streaming platforms, and the video in our article. The video for “The Other Side” was self-directed and created with the help of the outstanding cinematographer Josiah Maningas. It depicts flashbacks to Softlung’s schoolyard days. We also meet a young boy who either could be an apparition from the past or perhaps represents the new generation who are passing through a similar journey. Be sure to go and enjoy the full article and video in our most recent Five Questions With segment here.

Three

So are we ready to meet our next choice in this week’s pick from Canadian Beats. It will take us to Toronto-based singer/songwriter and producer Jenny Palacios. She blends genres like Emo, Alternative, and Pop to create this pocket of music running on feelings of sadness and nostalgia. The new single is called “Clean Break” and will be the sequel to a song she released in early 2021, “Convenient.” Where that song listed the reasons for leaving a relationship that she didn’t belong in, the latest single comes from the aftermath of leaving. Instead of trying to salvage what’s left and hold out for hope, sometimes it’s best to stop kidding yourself and just make a clean break. But before you break off from us, visit our article here.

Two

St. Catharines-based trio of long-time friends and musicians will take my second top spot on this week’s list. Powerwalk shares a love for retro 80’s dance music, finding lyrical inspiration from mundane observations, articles, and life experiences. The latest single is called “Lantern” and shines the light on the darkness in our lives. The single is available on all your favourite streaming platforms now, and it’s only the beginning. This new project they’re working on is about removing the pressure from music creation. It’s meant to be fun. We can expect much more from Powerwalk in the future, so be sure to check out our single review for their latest release, “Lantern,” here.

Now it’s time to introduce my final pick from our music-filled website, Canadian Beats. It’s a unique band from the Toronto area; Equator is a new five-piece soul punk group. Their new self-titled album clocks in at under 25 minutes and was recorded live at Pro gold studios in Toronto. The record is loud, fast, bombastic, and lyrically drenched with how far we still are from equality and the work we need to put in. We had a Five Question With interview with Equator where you can learn more about their new self-titled album. Check it out here.

Those are my recommendations from our vast well of new music that we have coming out every day. So if my suggestions weren’t to your liking, be sure to go and find your own when you explore the rest of our website. IBut if you did enjoy them, be sure to like and follow them on all their social media platforms. They will be linked in the articles that were linked in this article if that’s not confusing enough. That’s going to be it for Zach’s Picks Of The Week till we see each other next Music Monday. Have a PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC kind of week ahead.
