On Friday, December 9th, Carleton Stone performed at The Carleton in Halifax to a sold-out room to celebrate the September release of his new record – Papercut.
The night began with a surprise performance by Kayleigh O’Connor, who was a collaborator on the album. She performed a few of her songs on the keyboard.
Cape Breton singer-songwriter Carleton Stone then hit the stage, saying how The Carleton was so nice to name the bar after him! He entertained the crowd with his impressive vocals and funny and strange stories. It was almost like a concert and comedy performance wrapped up into one. There was even a dance break for his song “Big Ego,” in which he invited two volunteers on stage and taught them a dance routine for the chorus, which involved all three of them thrusting. Carleton performed not only his own old and new solo songs but also a few that were written during his time with the band Port Cities.
