Three Days Grace & The Warning

Canadian rock band Three Days Grace wrapped up their North American Tour last Sunday, November 27th, at the History concert venue in Toronto. The tour was titled the “Explosions Tour,” which shares the same name as their latest album release that came out last May. Combined with being the tour’s final concert, this show was a homecoming of sorts for the band as they had lots of friends and family in attendance who were all watching from the VIP balcony at History.
There would be two opening acts on this night, the first of which was the Canadian band that goes by the name of the Standstills but unfortunately, I arrived after they had gone on, so I was unable to get any images of this performance.
The main opener of the night was the all-female rock group from Mexico known as The Warning. The trio has been on tour with Three Days Grace across Canada on this current leg of the Explosions world tour, which has been taking place in 2022. I feel like these two bands are a great match for a tour judging by their similar music styles and sound.
The Warning is a band with a lot of personality and I was surprised to find out that this group is actually from Monterrey, Mexico, one of the country’s most populous cities. To my knowledge, it’s not a place that is really known for its rock and roll bands, so it’s great to see these ladies putting their hometown on the map musically. These three young ladies have been playing as a group for just under ten years now which is surprising to hear when you learn that the youngest member of the band being, the bass player is only 18 years old, as well as the oldest being 22. If that isn’t amazing enough, this band is made up of sisters, so it’s needless to say, they have been playing together since day one. At one point during the set, they called out Three Days Grace bassist Barry Stock to the stage to play a few songs together. Three Days Grace would repay the favor later on in the night when they would invite the lead singer of the Warning, Daniela, to sing with them for a song. One notable moment during the performance was when they covered the song “Enter Sandman,” originally done by Metallica. This cover is a song the band went viral on YouTube about nine years ago, which generated millions of views.
Three Days Grace would hit the stage for the main event as the stage crews would complete the setup with additional large screens on each side. This stage design is probably one of the best and most intricate I’ve seen at History this year. The band would stop between one of the songs to shout out all of their guests that showed up and said that they had started drinking early due to this reason, so I suspect it must have been a very festive atmosphere backstage in the green room that night. The band would go on to play a complete 15-song set that would contain hits like “Pain,” “Just Like You,” and a special acoustic version of “The High Road.” The group would have some fun when they invited a few lucky audience members up on the stage to help sing their fan-favorite track, “just like you,” which was cool to see. Three Days Grace would finish off the set list with one of the band’s most notable songs, “I Hate Everything About You.” There was a surprise two-song encore that contained the songs “never too late” and “riot,” which sent the fans home happy.
