Let’s get this exciting list of new music started with Windsor-based alternative metal group, Among the Rest. They will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of their latest EP, Morté, on December 17th. This EP signaled the group’s evolution in the last year. Among the Rest received some love with the latest EP from the online Twitch metal community. They are currently working on new material to follow up sometime next year. Go listen to the EP Morté on all streaming platforms and visit the article linked here.

Well, November 18th was not only a special day for me but also for Winnipeg-born country artist David James. This was the day he shared his unique perspective on what it means to hold on tight to the one you love. James released “Let Her Go” to all streaming platforms via MDM Recordings Inc./ Universal Music Canada. The track showcases a unique third-person perspective about an ex-relationship, painting a melodic picture in an emotionally charged melody. “Let Her Go” marks the second single released this year from the country artist that continues to channel a new and evolved sound. Go have a listen to David James’ latest single, “Let Her Go,” here.

Moving on in this week’s recommended picks will be the rising BC-based artist & producer known as B00sted (neé Keegan Jaeckel). He revealed an easy-listening, bright and upbeat blend of pop and hip-hop in his latest single, “Remedy,” available for streaming across platforms. He’s recently signed to 604 Records and continues proving that he is leading the pack for the next generation of artists. In our post, B00sted says, “‘Remedy’ is a song about trying not to fall in love and the difficulties you face in the process. It’s not because you don’t want to fall in love, you just know the hardships and stress of it all.” Read the rest of the article for the latest single by B00sted here.

Taking the second top spot of the week here on our show will be New Brunswick-based band Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic. They unveiled the single “Addressed To You” to all streaming platforms, written by Ryan. This track saw the help of many incredible, musically talented individuals across the East Coast. Dillion shared this about the new song in our article, “Musically, I was really into a lot of the darker Echo & The Bunnymen stuff as well as John Cale and Nick Cave. I came up with a lot of the song on the piano first before transposing it to more of a guitar song.” You can read more about this new single and check out our interview with Dillion Ryan on Canadian Beats. My final pick in Zach’s Picks Of The Week is a band formed during the mandatory lockdown of 2020. We are introducing British Columbia band Friendly Giants and their single, “Dancing By Myself,” which is available on all streaming platforms. Singer John Wittmayer said this about their writing style. “The sum of our parts creates music that we all identify with, and this sharing is what thrills us to keep creating.” You can read about the new single “Dancing By Myself” here.
Those are my choices for this week’s fantastic new music from Canadian Beats. Zach’s Picks Of The Week are always presented by Canadian Beats, where you will find the best in Canadian music.
