MTelus was packed to the brim last night as 2021 Eurovision winners Måneskin brought their The Loud Kids Tour for their first-ever show in town!

No opener was needed for the Italian band, as the packed crowd entertained themselves by chanting the band’s name during the two hours between doors and showtime. Some of the fans we talked to in the front row had camped since 7am, a small price to pay to be the closest in the 2,000+ capacity venue.

Shortly after 9pm, Måneskin arrived onstage to earsplitting screams from the audience made up mostly of young women. With a level of energy usually reserved for encores, we knew from the first few notes of Kool Kids that we were in for one hell of a rock show!

For the following 90 minutes, Damiano (lead singer), Victoria (bass), Thomas (guitar) and Ethan (drums) left it all on the stage and on the dance floor, with many crowd surfs and intermissions to play solos amongst the fans. The highlights of the show were obviously superhits Beggin’I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVEMAMMAMIA, and THE LONELIEST, but every song felt like a treat, including the covers of The Stooges’ I Wanna Be Your Dog, and The Who’s My Generation.

Måneskin were generous with their fans, with many interactions from Damiano between songs, embraces when jumping in the pit, and bringing a dozen of lucky spectators on stage for the finale song LIVIDI SUI GOMITI for a big dance party!

While an overflowing MTelus is a rite of passage in a band’s rise to fame in Montreal, it is without a doubt that their next visit in town will be at an arena like Place Bell or Bell Center, so witnessing their rock craziness in the intimacy of a club show felt like a true privilege last night! The theatre’s walls shook, the floor was stomped, and fans left with ringing ears, smiles on their faces and sparkles in their eyes. A true pop-rock masterclass, and without a doubt the most epic show we’ve seen at MTelus in a long time!
