On Wednesday, November 9th, American indie rock band Bright Eyes played a show at History accompanied by the opening group Hurray for the Riff Raff.
Hurray for the Riff Raff is an indie folk band from New Orleans fronted by Alynda Segarra. They are celebrating the success of their 2022 release, Life on Earth, which they played in plenty.
Bright Eyes is founded by Conor Oberst, a hugely influential singer-songwriter from Omaha, Nebraska. Oberst’s quivering voice and outspoken, sincere lyrics introduced indie crowds to a gentler side of rock in the late 90s. He continues to provide newfangled narratives in music to this day. In 2020, Bright Eyes dropped their first studio album in nine years titled “Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground”, which they are currently touring. Bright Eyes put on an enormously fun, exciting show full of terribly heartbreaking music. Oberst is utterly unique in being able to twirl around the stage with such lyrically heavy songs while the crowd dances out their rage with glee.
Toronto continues to adore Bright Eyes, and their shows are not one indie rock/ folk fans would want to miss.
