M.A.D La Lyriciste shares sophomore EP and new music video

A bit more than a year after the release of her first EP, Doux-Amer,  M.A.D La Lyriciste unveiled her sophomore EP, Le Fond De Ma Pensée, on November 4, with the official music video for the track ”L.F.S.C.P.M.” following shortly after.

Through reading, the Montreal native M.A.D La Lyriciste discovered her passion for writing and the power of words. Constantly analyzing and questioning what is, what is not and what might be, the artist delights in tackling profound subjects.

In 2021, she released a debut mini-album entitled Doux-Amer. Sincere and straightforward, her lyrics share her fears, anger, and hopes – she’s an open book but holds back just enough to remain mysterious. Like an alchemist, she turns her life story into art, knowing, however, that despite their might, words can be insufficient to precisely express one’s feelings.

In her new EP, Le Fond De Ma Pensée, the artist reaffirms her singular style: poetic, sensitive, at the same time smooth and rough – confusing, fascinating, and assumed. Composed of three titles, the EP is an immersive journey to the core of some of the artist’s deepest thoughts. Tackling subjects such as self-love in “Le Chant des Sirènes,” divergence with the song “MAL” and the Catholic Church and its clergy in “L.F.S.C.P.M.” (an acronym for “Les Frères Se Cachent Pour Mourir,” meaning “Brothers Hide To Die”). This new project is a direct statement that makes no excuses.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

With pleasure! So, hello to you readers. Let me introduce myself: M.A.D La Lyriciste, French singer-songwriter. It is in my bedroom, in the heart of the Parc-Extension neighborhood in Montreal, that I discover, through reading, the power of words; their ability to impact reality. They are the ones who gave me my passion for writing. Constantly analyzing and questioning what is, is not, and could be, I like to tackle subjects in depth, a depth that is unique to me because before being an artist, I consider myself a being inspired by the life that surrounds me and through which I evolve. Thus, I like to combine the beauty of sounds, of music, with the power of words to create intimate, authentic, committed works.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

Le Fond De Ma Pensée is my second project (the first being DouxAmer, released on August 26, 2021). This new EP is part of a logical sequence of things where, initially a novice in the musical world, I take little by little notes of the rules that govern this branch of art…in order to better master them, tame them, and break them. Always in search of more depth and truth, it is a question here of ignoring certain taboos still very present in so-called modern society to address subjects that will shock some and affect others. Le Fond De Ma Pensée is a statement without detour or apology. This on sounds (composed, mixed and matrixed) signed Kiki Beatz.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

I draw my inspiration from a consciously unknown but unconsciously known source of my being. It interprets elements of my personal life and the world around me in a way that, when I put it all on paper, could not be expressed otherwise.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

There is nothing confirmed in this direction for the moment.

What’s your goal for 2022?

My goal for 2022 was primarily to release a new project where you could feel my evolution from my first EP (“Doux-Amer”) but while remaining true to who I am as an artist. It is now done. I, therefore, move on to my second objective, which is to make my musical universe known to a greater number of people. For the moment, few know who M.A.D La lyriciste is, and I am working to remedy that in 2022.
