Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
We are a new band somewhere at the intersection of Doom, Sludge, and Stoner Metal from Gatineau, Québec. We started the band officially in 2019 and released our debut album, Parasite, on July 29 of this year.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Last month, we released our first official video for the song Adaptation, the second single off our album. It was directed and edited by Francis Martineau. It was shot with a mini DV camera (old-school 2000s cameras), and he did all the visual effects manually. The result is pretty trippy. Fans of vintage aesthetics and…fire should be pleased. Go check it out if you wish!
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
Musically, we have a diverse range of influences, from old-school trash to modern stuff like Gojira (and that only covers the metal side of our influences). However, our main influences include bands like Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, The Sword, Red Fang, Black Sabbath, High on Fire, and Kylesa.
Lyrically, we don’t really have a guideline. However, our debut album is a concept album that uses parasitism (in science) as a metaphor for anxiety disorders, and most of the lyrics of the album are centered around that theme. There are also a few references to 80s sci-fi movies thrown in there.
Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?
Yes! We are playing in Sherbrooke on December 3 at Bar le Magog with De Mal en Pire. We should announce other shows for next year (2023) as well.
What’s your goal for 2022?
We want to do more shows and do some more recordings as soon as possible.
