Zach's Picks 4

Find out Zach’s Five Picks for this Week

Another Music Monday has rolled around to us with many new tunes. This is our weekly segment, “Zach’s Picks Of The Week,” where I will hand-select articles from our amazing website. That way, you can enjoy the brand-new music and interact with our great stuff. Like our In Photo Coverage, Inside the Industry, Interviews, and tons more content posted daily. But we have a stacked lineup today, so let’s get things started. These will be this week’s choices for Zach’s Picks Of The Week and easily digestible clips. You have to listen to these five and show some love to the artist.

Five

Let’s begin this week’s list with Kitchener-based singer-songwriter Katy Topham. Her latest single, “Red Flags Green,” is available on all platforms to stream, but the new video is in our article. This is her latest single coming off her EP, “The Hurtin’ and the Heart,” released in September. Katy possesses not only a unique and distinctive singing voice but also an incredible talent for creating memorable and authentic songs. We had a little five questions interview just recently with Katy Topham, where you can hear about her new album. The brand-new video for “Red Flags Green” can also be found here.

Four

Proceeding on word into the new music takes us to the Toronto four-piece noise rock band, Gloin. Their best known for their cathartic live sets and eclectic songwriting. Their debut album, We Found This, was released recently on all platforms via Mothland. Featuring the band’s patented pop melodies and beautifully noisy arrangements, supported by a distorted rhythm that offers plenty of soothing grooves. On this record, they worked with up-and-coming studio wizard Dylan Frankland and music visionary Graham Walsh. You can listen to the album on our website, where we had a Five Questions interview with Gloin. Check it out here.

Three

Moving into my top three this week, we have Toronto singer-songwriter, Melissa Lauren. She’s unveiled the official video for the title track of her third studio album, “My Voice.” The whole album is available everywhere now, and she recently wrapped up the first leg of her North American tour. She made some stops in Toronto and Halifax and starting on November 10, she will be hitting Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, and of course, two shows in Vancouver. Carlos Coronado of Coronado Films directed the new video for “My Voice.” You can enjoy this incredible jazz track and video here.

Two

As we reach our top two picks for this week, I’d like to introduce you to a very talented Vancouver-based artist named Luc LeMans. His latest single, “Can’t Lose Again,” is a retro soul whirlwind telling the tale of a chronically unlucky gambler, betting his last dine. Who knows if he’s finally going to win, you can’t lose again. This catchy track is available on all streaming sites now, plus we had a Five Questions With segment with Luc LeMans. You can find out how he discovered the new Canadian genre, which he calls “Hollywood Northern Soul,” and what’s coming up for him in the future. Listen to the new single, “Can’t Lose Again,” here.

One

Now for my final pick of the week, it’s time to meet Winnipeg-based rock group D2UR. Their name is pronounced “Detour” and consists of the married duo Diane and Mike Isbister, who leads the group with vocals and guitar. They recently revealed the brand new single, “Right Now,” to all streaming platforms. It’s a rock venture complete with longing electric guitar licks. However, that is only the first of a few new songs that will be coming out in the upcoming months. D2UR will also be heading into the studio to record a couple more to finish up their forthcoming album and rehearse the songs before their next show in the spring. Check out the new song “Right Now” in the recent article on our website. You can also enjoy a brand-new interview with D2UR here.

Those are all my choices for Zach’s Picks Of The Week. I hope you enjoyed them, and you are welcome to browse the rest of the website to find more. There is so much posted on our page every day, so you should explore for yourself. Once you do, you can comment and tell me your pick of the week. There are all sorts of amazing content, including In Photo Coverage of concerts, Inside the Industry, Interviews with your favourite artist or band, and much more. So take a look around Canadian Beats, and until next time, here on another music Monday. This is going to be it from me, so until next time, PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!
