Powerwalk unveils their debut single, “Summer’s Over”

Niagara, ON-based trio Powerwalk has released their debut single, “Summer’s Over.”

The trio may be new to the scene, but it’s made up of experienced musicians, creating a new wave sound with a modernized approach. Powerwalk is made up of Mark Hoerdt (drums/ vocals), Amanda Parker (synthesizers/ vocals), and Arih SK (bass guitar/vocals).

The single “Summer’s Over” is a fun, synth-focused song with an 80s vibe and a catchy chorus.

The band shares,

“Fall always comes. It gets cold and wet, and everything dies. But there’s one last furious burst of colour as the trees go bare. We might not have any control over how things change or how fast they change, but sometimes we can still appreciate the beauty.”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

We are three friends that love making music together. We all love 80’s new wave music and thought it would be fun to plug in some synths and see what happens.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

“Summer’s Over” started as an instrumental after stumbling upon a cool arpeggiated synth sound. Lyrically, it turned into a song about time going by quickly and never being prepared for whatever is coming next.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Most often, we are inspired by our instruments, just playing around and then pinpointing chords/melodies that sparked our interest. When coming up with lyrics, we like to use; recent observations, comments from conversations, and thoughts about something we read and mesh together old and new ideas.

Do you have any upcoming shows you’d like to tell us about?

We like the idea of being a studio band. We just want to make as much music as possible, and if that leads us to perform in the future, we will let you know first!

What’s your goal for 2022?

Our goal for 2022 is to get this project off the ground and release another song or two before 2023 rushes in. We want to find people who happen to love what we love and make fun music for all of us!
