JJ Wilde, Billy Raffoul
October 19th, 2022
Hollywood Theatre, Vancouver, BC
On October 19th, the Ontarian rocker JJ Wilde performed at the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver, supported by Billy Raffoul.
In case you’re not familiar with JJ Wilde, she is the first woman to win Rock Album of the Year at the Junos 2021 since Alanis Morissette in 1996, with her debut album Ruthless. Quite the accomplishment!
Leamington native Billy Raffoul warmed up the audience perfectly, accompanied by his raspy voice and his two band members. His 30+ minutes set was a perfect way to start the night.
At 9 pm, JJ Wilde arrived on stage, filling the Hollywood Theatre with energy. The singer, songwriter, and musician charmed the crowd with her powerful and raspy voice. To the audience’s delight, Wilde and her band performed songs from her 2020 album Ruthless and her 2021 EP Wilde. For the Encore, she invited her friend Billy Raffoul on stage for “Born To Die,” a song taken from the EP Born To Die they co-wrote together last fall.
