Born and raised in Waterloo, ON, Canadian country artist Basil Bauer grew up in a musical family and has been singing for as long as he can remember.

Bauer’s musical influences range from the work of Justin Bieber, John Mayer, Blake Sheldon, and Alan Jackson, among many other artists in the country/pop industry.

Basil’s latest single, “Yours Someday,” was released in September and was accompanied by a music video.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Basil Bauer. I am an emerging Canadian country music artist from Waterloo, Ontario. I write songs daily and have many different hobbies including playing hockey, tennis, and golf. I am 1 of 7 siblings and come from a very musical background.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I write a lot about various events I have experienced in my lifetime. As soon as something pops into my head, I usually write it down and try to bring it to life in the form of a country song. I have many different influences that cross different genres, including John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Morgan Wallen, HARDY, Taylor Swift, and many more.

How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?

I’ve been writing a lot during the pandemic. I think myself and many others have had time to reflect on various things in their life during this time, which has been very helpful in the writing process. It helps that I come from a musical family because I’ve been able to share some of these moments with family.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

That’s a great question! This year I’m coming out with many songs, and honestly, I would probably suggest one of my unreleased tracks, so stay tuned for those. However, “”Yours Someday” and “Keep Me Guessin'” are out now, so you should be able to get a grasp of my writing style through those two songs.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?

I love so many Canadian acts. Canadian music has so much to offer. Among some of my favourites are Jade Eagleson, Washboard Union, Tenille Townes, Justin Bieber, and The Weekend. Canada has so much talent, and I could go on and on aside from this list here.
