Beppie is the elaborate brainchild of one Stephanie Nhan, an Edmonton resident looking to push the boundaries of children’s music. She hit the children’s music scene in 2017 with her debut album, There’s a Song Inside Me. Since then, she has released four more full-length albums receiving two WCMA nominations and a JUNO nomination. Her multi-genre music is refreshingly modern, fun, and innovative. She pushes the boundaries of children’s music to appeal to audiences of all ages with radio-quality production, humor, and unique listening experiences.
A music educator by trade, Stephanie provides programming and performances for schools, festivals, and libraries. She is a new member of the 2022 Recording Academy Class and has recently signed on with Platoon (Apple Music) to release her latest album, Nice to Meet You. The inspiration for her music comes from her three young children who sing and compose with her at home every day.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
I’m Beppie! I’m a children’s musician, educator, and a busy mom of three from Edmonton, Alberta. I have released five full-length albums and one holiday EP for kids and their grown-ups. My music introduces kids to multiple genres while keeping the production modern and fun. Every song celebrates childhood differently. The newest album, Nice to Meet You, is the first project that my producer and I released with a label (Platoon).
What’s it like being nominated for a JUNO?
That whole experience was out of this world. I met so many amazing new people and built some new lifelong friendships. Everyone that I met was so supportive and kind. At the time I was nominated, I had only released two albums, so it was like a crash course on the music industry here in Canada. I learned so much, and I hope to receive the honor of attending the JUNOS again someday as a second-time nominee.
How did you land to making music for kids and families?
This whole journey started when I was teaching preschool music classes. I was developing an early childhood music curriculum and looking for some specific movement songs. I couldn’t find what I needed, so I started writing educational songs for my students. Eventually, the parents in the classes started asking if they could listen to those songs at home, so I teamed up with a local producer (Justin ‘Dunna’ McDonough), and we haven’t looked back!
Who was the first artist to knock you out?
This is a great question! Over the years, I have fallen in love with so many albums, but the first artist to ever make an impression on me was Jaques Chauvin. I remember he performed for my elementary school when I was just a little girl. He was this larger-than-life rock star, and he was singing in french about hamburgers! I was starstruck. Who knows? Maybe that was what started my whole journey toward children’s music.
What’s the one album by a Canadian artist that everyone should have in their collection?
Well, if we are talking about children’s music, I have a special place in my heart for Snacktime by the Barenaked Ladies (I listen to it sometimes without my kids, but that’s our little secret). If we dive into other genres for a second, the answer to this will change month to month. Right now, you should go listen to the Arkells. Any Arkells album is fire, but I love their Campfire Chords album.
