Fake Shark Unveil 70s Horror Inspired Music Video for “Paranoid”

Acclaimed Vancouver alt-rock outfit Fake Shark unveils a vivid house of horrors with the release of the official music video for “Paranoid.” Directed by Brandon Fletcher, the psychedelic thriller draws on the group’s love of all things horror. An eerie ambiance is set as the glow of neon lights slowly reveals characters haunting in the shadows, leading to a black-and-white maze of paranoid thoughts.

“The video for Paranoid is the rare situation where the video actually makes the song even better and more relevant to its topic,” shares lead singer Kevvy Maher. “I had been wanting to work with Brandon Fletcher for a while, and when we finally met, we instantly struck up a conversation about 70s Italian horror movies, and right then I knew it’d be our video that’s the most “me”. I love this video.”

With over 4 million streams to their name and 2 million views on YouTube, it’s easy to see why Fake Shark has been quoted as “one of Canada’s best bands” (Outland Culture). Their music has appeared on various Spotify playlists, including New Music Friday Canada, Ready to Rock, Rock Favourites, Indie All Stars, Rock Your Block, Fresh Finds, It’s a Bop, All New Rock, etc., while also being featured in various TV shows and commercials including an Apple commercial, Netflix’s Pretty Little Things, CBS Love Island, MTV Catfish, Showtime’s Dice, Degrassi, See No Evil, and Vendetta.

Recently, the group was nominated for three 2022 Indie Awards, including ‘Album of the Year,’ ‘Rock/Alternative Group of the Year,’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for their smash “Loser,” which charted at #3 on the Canadian Alternative Radio chart, and #9 on the Breaking Alt (Alternative Specialty) chart. Receiving praise from the likes of Billboard, VICE, CBC Music, Exclaim, and more, Fake Shark has nothing to be “Paranoid” about when it comes to the success of their music.
