Happy Music Monday, everyone! You’re back again for the best in Canadian music on Zach’s Picks of the Week. The place where I will hand-pick my favourite articles that were posted this last week on our site. So remember to visit the rest of the website or any of our social media platforms for more. The links to each of the articles can be found in this post. Plus, you can hear a clip from each song or artist in this week’s video posted below. I hope you’re all ready for the new music because it’s time to get things started.
Five
Let’s begin this week’s list of new music with Winnipeg’s own Brandi Vezina. She recently unveiled her latest single, “Gasoline,” which features CCMA award-winning Producer Murray Pulver. It’s available on all streaming platforms, so enjoy this fantastic track. While you’re at it, check out the new article with the Manitoban artist Brandi Vezina and her new single, “Gasoline,” here.
Four
Moving on in my list of new picks of the week brings us to Niagara-based band Steller Ash. We covered their latest track, “Be OK,” in a single review., and it’s available now for streaming everywhere. It’s a sexy, groovy, blues-infused rock track and shows this band’s hard-hitting skills. See our review of the new song, “Be OK,” and listen to it here.
Three
So we move into my top three picks of the week, taking us to Alberta-born Métis singer-songwriter Cynthia Hamar. Cynthia unveiled her album Joint & Marrow in September via Neon Moon Records. Produced by Paul Johnston and brought to light with the help of various talented musicians. We had an interview recently with Cynthia, where you can see her new video for a song off of this album called “Light A Fire.” You can enjoy both of those here.
Two
Taking this week’s second top spot will be Toronto alt-rock anthem-makers, Birds of Bellwoods. They’re here with the first taste of new music coming from their forthcoming sophomore album. The track is called “Videotape” and is a tongue-in-cheek ode to bad habits and mistakes. Fuelled by an earworm melody and high-energy rhythm, it will be on your repeat. “Videotape” is available now on all streaming platforms, and you enjoy it in our article here.
One
Now for my final choice for this week’s list of new music. We meet Mississippi born but Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Robert Connolly Farr. He has built off the influences of his hometown blues heroes with his bold and blistering new album, Shake It. One of the latest singles off the album, “Lefty,” throws down a guttural guitar shuffle that aims its thump directly for the center of the chest. The album is available across all streaming platforms, and you can hear “Lefty” in our article. In that same post, we also did a quick Five Questions with Robert Connolly Farr. Check it out here.
That’s going to be it for Zach’s Picks Of The Week, everyone! I hope you will listen to these choices or follow them. There are lots more to check out at Canadian Beats.
