Stellar Ash Are Back With Their Latest Single, “Be OK”
Niagara, ON-based band Stellar Ash creates songs that combine 90s alt-rock, some psychedelic elements, and something else that is entirely their own sound.
Their latest single, “Be OK,” is a groovy, sexy, blues-infused rock track that really showcases the band’s hard-hitting musicianship and Dave Rose’s impeccable vocals.
The band shares,
“When we were all struggling through the pandemic and lockdowns etc… It seemed to affect us all in a way that stressed us out and made us more irritable and intolerant. Everyone seemed to be arguing with everyone. It’s still pretty much the same now… This song is a plea to return to common sense while putting the onus on ourselves to make things better. To have harmony. To have unity. To be okay.”
Review
Starting with a mellow, somewhat moody beat, “Be OK” takes the listener on a journey through Stellar Ash’s talents and showcases the band’s songwriting.
As the vocals join in, Dave Rose shows his 90s influences while evoking an intensely anthemic vibe. During the chorus, Dave belts out, “I wanna know what I can do, I wanna know what I can say, I want us to stand as one strong, I want us to all be OK,” and let’s be honest, wouldn’t it be great to know what to do, what to say, and how to be OK. This is a lyric that will resonate with many listeners.
The lyrics, “Stand back, This is not a drill, What you believe is not the truth, There is no knowledge without proof,” really spoke to me, as I have anxiety, and of course, people who have anxiety take all of their thoughts as truth. Working through therapy has taught me just this, your thoughts are not true.
I loved this track, as the lyrics really spoke to me, plus the beat, although mellow, possesses an intensity that you just can’t ignore. Let’s all take Stellar Ash’s advice and stand as one strong.
