Venezuelan-Canadian artist JACE Carrillo Releases Brand New, Soft R&B Single “Desapareces”

Montreal, QC-based singer-songwriter JACE Carrillo has unveiled his latest single, “Desapareces.”

“Desapareces” is a lyrically imagined song about a character falling in love with someone in a dream yet being unable to achieve the same while awake. The track is from JACE’s upcoming album “Phenomena,” which he describes as a musical and lyrical journey of interpersonal relationships explained through cosmos phenomena. Both poetic and romantic, “Desapareces” is reminiscent of Pop music from the early 2000s and seamlessly blends live instruments with electronic elements.

From its ethereal opening, “Desapareces” features a strong bass line with Lofi-Pop along with JACE’s strong R&B and Pop blended vocals. With its strong, catchy chorus that is easily danceable, “Desapareces” bridges Anglo-Pop with the Latin world in a uniquely different way than most of the popular Latin-Reggaeton and Latin-Rap styles we see today. Demonstrating that music transcends language, JACE’s brand-new song serves as the perfect national introduction to the already well-known artist.

Noting that the song was written in just a few days, JACE’s focus has been on creating a comprehensive album, similar to a Netflix series where each song ties together yet individually tells a story. With his own take on modern R&B and Pop music, JACE’s collaboration for this song with Luca The Producer and Jacob Lacroix-Cardinal have helped him hone his overall sound and style to one that he grew up loving. Citing Justin Timberlake’s early 2000 sound, Charlie Puth, and numerous other Pop/R&B artists as inspiration for his music, JACE is achieving his dream of creating his own style of music that inspired him.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hola! My name is JACE Carrillo. I am a Venezuelan singer-songwriter based out of Montreal. Fun fact, when I migrated to Canada in 2015, I had to learn French and English at the same time. It wasn’t easy (eh), but now, a couple of years later, I’m about to become a Canadian citizen, and I am so proud of it. I even tattooed the maple leaf with my Venezuelan flag on my calf because I am now a blend of both.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

This song is the first single off of my sophomore album release, “Phenomena.” It is very special to me because it sets the tone for what’s to come. You will see a blend of my Latin roots mixed with North American sounds. Although the lyrics are telling a hopeful love story, the beats are very energetic, and the goal is to warm people up as the lower temperatures set in. The song also introduces the cosmos concept behind my album. You’ll need to stay tuned as more of “Phenomena” will be revealed.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

I pull inspiration mostly from my own experiences. I love writing songs that tell a story and that have meaning. I want my songs to become anthems for those who need comfort and hope in hard times. I am a hopeless romantic, and I want to showcase the only feeling that keeps the world spinning. Love is essential and so important to give and receive.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

I have nothing planned right now, as all of my focus has been on releasing new songs. As an independent artist, I want to focus on the quality of my work first, and I know I’ll find the right people along the way so the team keeps growing. Have faith, and the stars will align, right? What I enjoy the most about being an artist is performing. I cannot wait to perform these new songs live.

What’s your goal for 2022?

I have many goals for 2022-2023. Of course, a big part is for my album to be recognized but mostly to be able to take care of my family and the people I love doing what I love. I also dedicated a big part of 2022 to my physical health through physiotherapy. I grew up playing soccer competitively and have suffered many knee injuries along the way, so to be able to run again is a dream. Another fun fact: I am still a huge soccer fan, I play FIFA with my friends, and I’m going to Qatar for the World Cup in November 😊 and you bet I’ll be cheering for Canada! #WeCAN
