Emma Beko unveils her new EP, Superficial Stains

Emma Beko has released her new EP, Superficial Stains. This six-track record is the second part of an album split in two; Superficial Stains completes Digital Damage which came out in spring.

Emma has produced this EP with the help of Beau Geste, Da-P, Day Hills, and Michael Go, as well as adding live instrumentation to all of the songs, doing this as the last step to really feel her two universes colliding. There is a strong recurrent concept of duality felt through this latest piece of work; It’s about the beauty found in ugliness, the temporary aspect of all that is, and the longing to hold on. She embraces moments that are deemed ugly because she’s constantly aware that they are all around her, and it is her way of surviving this world.

“In this project I keep on embracing the absurdity of life through sound, sharing the raw and fragile pain I have inside while sharing hope, comfort and strength to keep on.” explains Beko.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Emma Beko. I’m a Canadian, Peruvian, and Hungarian artist. I write, I rap, I sing, I make music videos, and I produce, amongst other things. I can’t help but write songs about the absurdity of life and other existential reflections.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My EP “Superficial Stains” is the second part of my EP “Digital Damage,” which I put out in April. Together they make a whole… I love concepts and ideas and creating a universe for my songs to live in. This EP is about how as hardcore as life can be, we can heal, and we can make the most of our time here.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

My life and experiences, I write from what I truly know, or else it doesn’t feel authentic enough for me to speak on. I’m the most honest version of myself through the music I make.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

I have my first tour coming up this October with shows in London, Marseille, Paris, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec, and Sherbrooke, and you can get your ticket right here.  I promise it will be very, very special.

What’s your goal for 2022?

I think I’ve surpassed my goals for 2022, to be honest, which is pretty much always striving to make good music for it to be heard and to have major fun through the whole process. After releasing 2 EPs this year, next year I decided to release collaboration tracks and features, which I’m really excited about, to showcase all these different sides of me and to have my music travel through all these different artists’ universes. And then 2024 is the album year 🙂
