Elmvale, Ontario’s Dayna Reid has unveiled her EP, Back To The Trailer, via Open Road Recordings and RGK Entertainment.
Dayna discovered her voice at a young age, and after picking up a guitar, she began her musical journey of writing, singing, and growing her craft.
“Over the past couple of years, I’ve been working towards my dream of a career in music by writing songs and developing myself as an artist with my mentor Beverley Mahood,” says Dayna. “I am SO excited and blessed that these songs have led me to sign with Open Road & RGK! Music has introduced me to the most creative, hardworking, and talented people, and I’m so thankful to be working with this amazing team on this next part of my journey!”
Throughout 2020 and beyond, Dayna worked tirelessly on writing her story and creating the music she was meant to. Songs like “She’s Me,” “Long Way Home,” and the title track of her debut EP, “Back to the Trailer,” present a very personal narrative that inherently will resonate with people globally.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Dayna Reid. My hometown, Elmvale, Ontario, comes complete with a gas station, donut shop, and its own Zoo. I hope to be as well known, for my music, as that Zoo someday. I am pretty new to the music scene. While I always played guitar and sang, I actually trained and began working as a therapist, specifically assisting people with autism.
My fork in the road came when I met Beverley Mahood through a talent contest. Through her, and later Mac Shepherd, I was able to write songs and then record them. Those songs led me to where I am today, newly signed with Open Road Recordings / RGK Entertainment.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Probably best described as my first and only release so far. The EP, Back to The Trailer, went out on Sept 30 and includes three songs that allow people to get to know me. The title song, “Back to The Trailer,” describes my life living in a trailer with no AC these past summers. “She’s Me” talks about my small-town roots and wanting and dreaming for more. Finally, “Long Way Home” speaks of the special night you want to last just a little longer. Small-town stories from a small-town girl.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
Musically I live in the nineties. While I wasn’t even born yet, listening to the music from that era inspires me, from the strong melodies to the heartfelt stories. My stories are about my life experiences which are similar to many girls like me. All who have hopes, dreams, and often, challenges. One nice thing about writing with Beverley and Mac is that Mac and I can start a story while Beverley has the experience of telling how the story ends.
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?
I have just completed a summer of small singer-songwriter shows. The current focus is going to be support for this EP release with a goal of going to radio in the coming months. Then I think the shows will begin … Maybe a world tour with Dolly? HA
What’s your goal for 2022?
I just want to connect with as many listeners as possible. Other goals include remembering to bring my guitar strap and extra strings to shows. I can forget stuff.
