The Cabaret Quicksand is back with a new single and a new album
Niagara-based artist Craig Rewbury’s project, The Cabaret Quicksand is back with a brand new album, Everything Wrong Is Right Again.
The album features previous singles, “Save Me Now,” “The Light Returns To Shine,” and “Colours,” plus the brand new single, “Seeing Things I Didn’t Before” – an indie rock gem that gives off Oasis vibes.
Craig shares,
“It’s about the difficulty people have seeing the truth while inside a relationship that turns out sour in the end. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a romantic relationship either. You have your suspicions of dishonesty but don’t wholeheartedly believe it. After it’s over, you step back and look in from the outside and say to yourself- what the fuck was I thinking? How did I miss that? It was right in front of me the entire time. It’s all part of growing.”
Review
“Seeing Things I Didn’t Before” features a mellow beat and crisp matter-of-fact vocals. I’m a fan of songs that tell a story, and this is one of those.
The chorus, “I don’t wanna be your guilty conspire, Just need to catch my breath for a while, All I know is that is true is required, Cause I’m seeing things I didn’t before,” pulled me in. Its melodic, sing-song base, mixed with Craig’s easygoing vocals, creates such an inviting vibe I couldn’t help but listen through the song multiple times.
The track, in some ways, feels as if it was released in the mid-90s when bands like Oasis dominated with this style of rock, although there is also a modern rock element.
With this single, I feel as though it will appeal to fans of many genres. If you’re looking for a good tune with smooth vocals that you just can’t help but sing along with, this one is for you!
