Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey guys, nhelson here! I’m an upcoming rapper from Vancouver:) I mainly make trap music, but I’d consider my work pretty versatile as well. You’ll find some experimental & indie pop-focused songs as you browse through my tracks.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

My most recent release is “sailormoonkicks!” It’s an interesting song because it can be an energetic banger you listen to while working out, or it can be a casual chill track you play in a car. Fun fact, we filmed a zero-budget music video for it.  Shout out to Kylan, Brandon, Taylor & Astarte for making it possible!!

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Tyler, the Creator, influences me a lot lyrically. I acknowledge how generic mainstream trap music can be nowadays, and I try to throw in a little bit of my personality when I write. Tyler helped me realize that I don’t need to be like everyone else in the music industry in order to succeed. When I work on songs with deeper meanings, I tend to go to Claire Rosinkranz for inspiration. She’s a great indie-pop artist, and I admire the amount of effort she puts into her lyrics.

Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

I’ve been thinking about doing a show…but I don’t have a lot of local fans at the moment 🙁 but hey! that’s why I’m doing this interview, haha.

What’s your goal for 2022?

My biggest goal for 2022 is to have one hundred thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. I think it’s possible since we’re halfway there already, and I have some good releases lined up.
