Welcome everyone to another Music Monday here on Canadian Beats. I’m your handsome host of the show, Zach Coopz, and it’s time for Zach’s Picks Of The Week! My five favourite articles from our website this week were hand-picked by me. They will be featured in this week’s video posted just below us. But I recommend you visit the entire article for each, which should be linked in this article down below. But feel free to check out the rest of the website for all the other grade A content we have posted. But now it’s time to get right into Zach’s Picks Of The Week. Starting ourselves off will be an incredible new song.
Five
To kick things off this week, I have found a unique artist who blends a laid-back heartbreak pop style. I introduce you to Waterloo-based artist Jai Bentley and his latest track, “I Met The Devil.” That’s available on all streaming sites, but Bentley is no stranger to genre-bending to tell a convincing story. “I Met The Devil” is a tale of domineering toxic love that feels inescapable. The devil’s character is a former lover, being on and off again, coupled with an ego complex. Jai knew the relationship was bad for his life. Please check out the new single in our Five Questions with Jai Bentley, and stream the new track here.
Four
Next is a Canadian-born country songstress Alee, with her latest single, “Twenty-Four.” You can find it on all streaming platforms, and it was written by Alee, alongside Ava Suppelsa and Joe Tounge. She wanted to write a song for her younger sister, who is now going through the same highs and lows that Alee did when she was 24. This single will be coming off her next project, which is expected to drop in late 2023. Go visit our article for the single review of “Twenty-Four” by Alee here.
Three
Next up, we have a returning artist from Windsor, Ontario. It’s my friend MELØ, and he’s got his latest single for you to enjoy. The track is “Hopeless Romantic Creatures,” drawing inspiration from the exquisitely dark pleasures and devilishly wicked joys of the underground club scene. MELØ sings about victims of our impulses and the champions of living life right on the edge. Check out our single review for MELØ’s new single, “Hopeless Romantic Creatures,” and the latest video here.
Two
Making our way into the top two this week, we have the latest from Toronto-based trio, The Mendozaz. It’s called “GTFO,” which is coming off the album Up and at Them and is out now. It’s accompanied by a new video and features the wild, rotoscoped pop-art style of graphic designer and illustrator Joseph Zambri. You can check that video out in our Five Questions with The Mendozaz, here.
One
My last choice for this week’s picks of the week, I will be presenting Chris Antonik to you. His latest album, Morningstar, is number one on the Roots Music Report. His latest single is a Blues/Hip Hop hybrid called “Trust In Me”; it’s also available now on all streaming platforms. It’s a little different for the chart-topping blues-rock guitarist who has always pushed the boundaries of the blues genre. Marking the fourth single off the Morningstar album, it also includes a new video. Check it out here.
Well, those will be all my Picks Of The Week for you lovely listeners. Please go to the rest of our website and enjoy the mountain of other articles we have posted. All sorts of great content and new music are to there to discover. Until our next meeting, I like to wish you a good week coming up. Try to stay out of trouble and, as always, PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!!
