Swedish heavy metal band Ghost returned to Montreal last night and brought their Imperatour to Place Bell!
Following opening sets by Spiritbox and Mastodon, the audience got ready for a religious experience as liturgical music filled the arena. Shortly after 9pm, the curtain dropped with a bang, revealing Papa Emeritus IV (aka lead singer Tobias Forge) and his clergy of nameless ghouls.
Just like during their Heavy Montreal 2019 headline set (the last time they played in town), Forge pranced around the stage with the crowd in the palm of his hand. In front of a church stained-glass windows backdrop, the band delivered a flawless metal performance, leaving the audience feeling blessed to have attended this very special ritual!
