Cold Fame shares their new single, “If That’s Love”
Victoria, BC-based electro indie-pop trio Cold Fame have shared their end-of-summer pop anthem, “If That’s Love.”
The trio, comprised of Jodi Pederson, Damian Anthony, and Cody Dalman formed during the pandemic with vocalist Jodi Pederson joining in 2022.
With the dance sensibilities of The 1975 and the punchy playfulness of Paramore, “If That’s Love” marks the coming together of Cold Fame as a trio, sealing the defining characteristic of their sound and style.
The band shares,
“The song explores the complexities of young love in an upbeat tempo that projects the hopeful tone of the lyrics while exploring the theme of living with no regrets. With lyrics such as “They say this love, it’s doomed, it’s wild and reckless… But if that’s love, I guess I’ll take my chances” – the song suggests letting go of what other people say and think and just enjoying being young and having fun!”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, we are Cody, Damian, and Jodi of Cold Fame. We are an indie-pop band from Victoria, BC, and Vernon, BC. We have just released our fourth single, “If That’s Love,” across all platforms.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Our fresh single, “If That’s Love,” is an indie-pop song about exploring the complexities of young love and living with no regrets. If you were to throw Paramore, After Laughter, a bit of The 1975, and a dash of MOTHICA, into a blender, you would get this track. It’s fun, upbeat, and a great song to get pumped up to for that Say Anything-holding-up-the-boombox reenactment you’ve got planned 😉
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
Jodi is the lyrical songwriter of the group. She pulls inspiration from her own personal experiences, sometimes allowing the story to turn into something that wasn’t initially intended. She feels that her best writing always starts with something real so that the song has a heartbeat.
Damian and Cody are brilliant composers. They have a natural ability to integrate tangible imagery into their melodies, so much that it creates a very distinct mood within the song.
All three members have such diverse musical backgrounds and musical tastes that it allows for a lot of freedom and range in their writing. Jodi started in the dream-baroque-pop world, whereas Cody and Damian both lived in the harder-hitting rock genres. Together they have infused their personalities and styles to create the more indie-pop style evidenced by this new single and their earlier singles, “Loved You Too Much” and “Cherry Kiss On Ice.”
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?

What’s your goal for 2022?
2021 and the beginning of 2022 was such a powerful time for songwriting, and for the remainder of 2022, we want to continue recording and bringing those songs to life. We have so much to share with you and can’t wait to release all of this music – kicking things off with our new single, “If That’s Love,” and the fun, never-ending-summer-vibes music video – coming your way soon!
