Picks of the Week

Zach Coopz shares his favourite five articles of the week

Hello to all new and returning faces, to the best place to find music. It’s another beautiful Music Monday, wherever you’re watching or tuning in because we have new music to talk about. I am your host Zach Coopz and welcome back to Zach’s Picks Of The Week! I give you my five favourite articles I hand-picked from our fantastic website. So many incredible posts are coming out, but I picked five to make it easy. I have also given you a clip from each artist and song I will feature in this week’s video posted below. But you can visit each of these articles I’ve chosen through the links in this article. But now, let’s get going with the music. Here are Zach’s Picks Of The Week, everyone!

Five

Let’s start today’s list off with an Ontario-based blues-rock artist who’s unveiled his latest album. Spencer Mackenzie released Preach To My Soul on August 12. Continuing to push the boundaries with his music, Mackenzie recruited the incredible Emmy award winner and Juno nominated producer Ross Hayes-Citrullo. Plus, many more talented musicians all lent their incredible talent to his album. He has developed a tone, a vintage sound, and a style that resonates with many. Check out the article here.

Four

Moving on to our next spot, we will be visiting Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and meeting The Northwest, an alt-rock band that’s been operating for nearly a decade. They just unveiled their latest single, “Shoreline.” It’s available on all streaming platforms and comes off their latest album, All In. Performing and writing music together, inspired by life, the world around them, and human existence. The album is produced by Dustin Goodall & Bill Priddle at Unsalted Audio studio in Sault Ste. Marie. Check out the new video for “Shoreline” here.

Three

Next, moving into the top three of the week, we find ourselves on the East Coast in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with the incredible alternative R&B artist Chudi Harris. Already with multiple EPs, singles, and collaborations to his credit, he continues making waves in the Canadian Music Industry. Chudi’s brand new single, “How It’s Always Been,” was written in the summer and reflected the warm weather and fun vibes. It also aims toward a romantic love sound but ultimately draws influence from the love and security shared between family and friends. If you want to learn more about Chudi Harris and his latest single, check out our Five Questions With segment here.

Two

Next, in this week’s picks, we will add bilingual award-winning country artist Laurie LeBlanc from New Brunswick. He rocks the house with an anthem about having more time to enjoy the good times. His latest single and the title track of his new album is “Long Weekend,” and it is available to stream everywhere. As I mentioned, he’s a bilingual artist, so there are songs in each language on this new record. He only recently started performing to English-speaking crowds after making a career for over a decade performing in only French. “Long Weekend” was written with help from Leblanc’s manager and wife, Jeanette. Please be sure to go and check out the video for “Long Weekend” by Laurie Leblanc here.

One

Well, only one title could describe this Vancouver Rock ‘n’ roll group. Chase The Bear is a “Family Band,” a group of blood brothers, childhood friends, and musical prodigies. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg regarding these guys. They recently unveiled their new single, “Underwater,” to all streaming platforms (via Rock is Dead records, 604 Records). They draw their inspirations from genres like Classic Rock, Indie, Soul, R&B, and Pop. After sitting out on their musical journey back in 2015 and leaving their small town of Fort St. John behind. They quickly gained recognition around Vancouver with their catchy original music. Keep an eye out for more from this incredible group of guys. Plus, you can learn more in the mini-interview we had with Chase The Bear here.

Those are my recommendations this week for Zach’s Picks Of The Week! Check out the rest of our website or lots more fantastic music in the content. We post so many other incredible articles and segments, so be sure to stay up-to-date and follow. But of course, that is all from my segment this week. I hope you enjoyed it and found something to listen to. I will, of course, be back with a whole list of brand new music next Music Monday. So until next time, have an amazing week out there. Spread some love and, as always, PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!!
