Madison Galloway shares an anthem for change with “Open Your Eyes”
Emerging singer-songwriter Madison Galloway has built a reputation as a road warrior, performing at acclaimed festivals across her home province of Ontario, including Mariposa Folk Festival, Riverfest Elora, and RBC Bluesfest.
One of three winners of CBC Toyota Searchlight 2022’s Fan Choice, Madison is sharing “Open Your Eyes,” a 70s-inspired rock song that reflects on the issues facing the world today and calls on the need for community and society-wide change.
Produced by Ross Hayes Citrullo, Madison’s assertive vocals and melodic guitar playing is framed by interlocking organ and drums, creating a rollicking call to action.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! My name’s Madison Galloway. I’m a 22-year-old roots-rock artist from Fergus, Ontario.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
“Open Your Eyes” is the first release since my last album, Moon & Mercury (2019), so I was pretty excited to share it with the world. This autumn/winter, I’ll be working on a new album, and this song will definitely be included in that. Since releasing “Open Your Eyes,” it has actually made it on some significant playlists, including Spotify’s Modern Blues Rock playlist and Joe Bonamassa’s Cutting Edge Blues playlist. I’m incredibly grateful for all of the positive feedback for this tune and its accomplishments thus far, and of course, for everyone listening, sharing, and adding it to their playlists!
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
Well, my songs come from many places, but this one had a unique process. The inspiration for “Open Your Eyes” initially came from a line from the book “The Golden Compass,” which was further inspired by the problems I see in the world now and the notion of changing those things. My co-writer, Jason Hamor, and I had been stumped when trying to find something to write about, so after racking our brains, I ended up turning to my bookcase in search of some random inspiration – it worked.
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?
I just finished my final festival for the summer, Riverfest Elora, which was incredible. Still, I will be at The Preston Porch Party this Saturday (Aug 27th) and will be kicking off a show at The Fergus Grand Theatre featuring Ron Hawkins, Stephen Stanley, and Chris Brown on October 6th.
What’s your goal for 2022?
My goals for the remainder of 2022 are to release another single, get the rest of the new album recorded, and continue to reach new audiences. I’m really loving connecting with my long-time fans as well as new fans. If you are interested in joining the club, you can do so here.
