Giancarlo & The Scarfones electrify with their new single, “Take The Money”

Beaming out of the Niagara region with relentless positivity and excitement comes adult-contemporary act Giancarlo & The Scarfones with an electric track that evokes the upbeat grooves of the 70s with their latest single, “Take The Money.”

The catchy new single appears on the sophomore album Frame Of Mind, an expertly produced collection of songs from Giancarlo & The Scarfones that cleverly utilizes a myriad of bright sounds with thematic purpose. Produced at Groundloop Studios in Ridgeway, Ontario, tightly crafted horn sections, sweeping strings, and a cacophony of musical embellishments expand an already diverse soundscape.

Giancarlo & The Scarfones emulates a certain vibe on “Take The Money” and harnesses distinctive harmonic principles to achieve a musically satisfying result. As the band maintains, “Take The Money” was written as a love letter to the music of the 70s with a deep focus on horn arrangements and an undeniable melodic/lyrical hook.” The track’s energy celebrates the preciousness of life and is a beacon of sonic optimism in a world still reeling from the pandemic.

“Take The Money” makes you just want to skip the office and hit the beach with an uplifting message about taking chances and appreciating life’s special moments no matter what age.

“Back then as kids we didn’t have it hard
Running and playing
Hopping fences in the farmer’s yard
Upon that hill we were emperors of Rome.”

The 2022 album Frame Of Mind is the follow-up to Giancarlo & The Scarfones’ 2019 debut album Carousel, which had the band winning multiple Niagara Music Awards, including Best New Group, right out of the gate. While Frame Of Mind began as a four-song EP to be released in the summer of 2020, it became an original collection of music assembled and produced throughout the pandemic.

Frame Of Mind represents a rhythmic evolution of the pop-inspired soft-rock melodies that Giancarlo & The Scarfones are known for. The latest album release continues the band’s signature approach to music with soaring vocals and timeless harmonies reminiscent of the AM Gold radio days.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Sure! We are Giancarlo & The Scarfones!

What’s it like being a musician in Niagara, ON?

The Niagara Region is brimming with artists from all walks of life. It’s a very creative, supportive, and active community. Anybody coming into this pocket of Southern Ontario with fresh ears would not only be spoiled but also impressed by what’s being produced here.

So, where do YOU go when you take the money and now need to hide out?

Well, I go to space in the music video, but it’s difficult to hide anywhere in this day and age! I suppose there’s always the metaverse.

Who was the first artist to knock you sideways?

David Usher was the first concert I went to, and it was amazing how memorable and melodic every song of his was. He can seamlessly go from a high-energy rocker to a thoughtful ballad while still maintaining a pop mentality in his songwriting.

What’s the one album by a Canadian artist that everyone should have in their collection?

Everyone should have a copy of “Outskirts” by Blue Rodeo. “Rose Coloured Glasses” and “Rebel” are great tunes, but we can’t forget the absolute classic that is “Try.” Jim Cuddy gives a standout vocal performance that I think is truly timeless.
