Lily Frost and Vicious Animals unveil a new single, “The Medicine”
Toronto, ON-based independent singer-songwriter Lily Frost is taking a hard look at the current socio-political climate on her new single, “The Medicine.” This new single urges the listener to focus on love, unity, and self-growth…a balm to these insane times.
Produced by Stefan Sigerson – the song calls on all types of influences, from Feist, Nancy Sinatra, and Lana Del Rey – it’s a track set against a dark and brooding score.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi, I’m Lily Frost. I’m a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada. I have released 15 albums over the years.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Stef and I are old friends and bandmates. This is a single written over the pandemic. With all the polarization and extremism going on, it’s a sentiment of peace, anti-violence, and love. I started the idea with my dad, who is a therapist. We worked hard on the lyrics before I sent a voice memo to Stef, who responded immediately.
Stef produced me over FaceTime, got me to stand up, and cracked the whip on my vocal takes. He got me working again like in the old days! We must have done 40 takes. It was late, and he’d say, “Great, now do it again…” repeatedly. Ha! I love working hard, and Stef knows how to produce me. He then took the track and built it up with a core band, strings, and angel voices, and I love what he did. This is the first collaboration between Lily Frost and Vicious Animals.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
I read a lot of metaphysics, philosophy, and poetry and have deep relationships and conversations with all my friends who reside around the world. I am curious about emotional intelligence, evolution, higher consciousness, and channeling ideas through music to heal myself and, hopefully, others. Music is about connection and transformation for me.
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?
I have some shows in Ontario right now in October to release a body of work called Decompression, but I am finding live performances challenging after the pandemic. I kind of liked writing and cocooning, and hosting radio. I get stage fright. But we’ll see what the future holds. I’d love to perform with Stef in California. California is where I plan to end up one day down the road:)
What’s your goal for 2022?
Hmm, shoot a video in Italy, continue to work more in radio, work on my book, be in Cali more, do a retreat at an ashram or a vipassana, and maybe get a dog 😉
