Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Formed in the city of rock (literally), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, the female-fronted band brings together musicians with various musical influences. This has resulted in a futuristic blend of rock, alt, punk, and pop finding a home in our latest release, “Come On.” Influences include No Doubt, Green Day, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and all the classic rockers you can handle.

Good Effort was formed in the summer of 2020 with siblings Stefano (lead guitarist), Sabrina Cerilli (lead vocals), and friends Dami Bodunde (bass) and Tyler Farquharson (drums). Good Effort has made a presence on social media too. Already receiving reaction from Canadian rockers Loverboy, CBC Music, and Capital Records.

Tell us a bit about your most recent release.

Our first release, “Come On,” depicts the aftermath of an adverse situation and is poised in the perspective of re-setting yourself, your life, and the freedom that comes from that. Although none of us really enjoy going through difficult times, this song allows its listener to be stronger and more resilient, and perhaps a little sense of gratitude for that period of growth.

Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?

Our inspiration for writing comes from where most writers get their inspiration – experience. We find it intriguing that one theme, feeling, or situation can transcend into a unique melody. From a specific thought from your head to lyrics on paper to a melody and then people singing along. It’s a rush like no other. We all have unique experiences that enables a connection in all of us. We want to channel that.

Do you have any upcoming shows or fes8vals you’d like to tell us about?

The pandemic allowed us to write new material and record new tracks. We are in the process of releasing more content in the next few months, and we will be working on a set list with covers and original content. We have been connecting with other artists and have been asked to perform alongside them and are looking forward in doing some live shows soon. We are coming for you!

What’s your goal for 2022?

Our goal for 2022 would be to finish our EP and to connect with fans on tour.
