Are you ready for the new segment of Zach’s Picks of the Week?
Well, hello, everyone. I hope you’re all having a great start to your week because I have a new batch of music for you to take in this Music Monday! I am your host, Zach, and welcome to Zach‘s Picks Of The Week on our lovely website Canadian Beats. I have handpicked five articles from our website that I believe you’re going to play a lot this week. I currently have them in rotation on my playlist, so be sure to add them to yours after you check them out. This video below will show you a clip of each recommendation. But make sure you visit these articles for the entire song or videos. That’s enough from me; here are your new choices on Zach’s Picks Of The Week!
Five
To kick it off this week, we’re introducing 21-year-old singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer and actor Josh Bogert. He has almost two decades of performing under his belt in multiple forms. He joins us to unveil the video for his latest single, “Dream,” which is available on all music platforms. You can find the video in our article on this website, plus a mini interview with Josh. To learn more about this very talented young man, click here.
Four
Next up is a band based on the east coast in Halifax. It’s Safeword and their latest single, “Revisionist History,” possibly the punkiest song they have released. Its theme grappling with the idea of failure is something everyone can relate to in our day to day. This new single comes from their new album, Currents which is available everywhere now. Please head to the article for the release of “Revisionist History” to see the video they unveiled. The link to the article is just right here.
Three
Making its way to my top three this week is Multi-talented Queer singer-songwriter and entertainer Brandon Howard Roy from PEI. He’s recently shared his indie-pop self-love anthem, “Give Me Love.” Find it online now on any of your favourite streaming platforms. It was released independently with support from Music PEI. He channels his practice of radical self-love into this track filled with colourful emotive runs and catchy lyrics. This will be Roy’s first release since his debut album, Tough Stuff, which came out last year. Find them both online and check out the new video for “Give Me Love” in our article. Plus learn more about Brandon via our Five Questions With segment, here.
Two
Next up is my second pick of the week. Many incredible artists shared the stage at Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, which took place this past weekend. One, in particular, was Quebec’s alt-rock band Rebelle. They played on June 25th and opened up for headliner Serena Ryder. We caught up with them before their performance and had a mini interview on our website. You can learn more about Rebelle in our interview and check out their video for “Kicks.” Check it out here.
One
My final spot in this week’s Pick Of The Week brings Fredericton-based group The Tortoise The Hare and The Millionaire. They not only unveiled their new single, “At The Crossroads,” but they have also recently shared their album, Yard Sale. Look it up on any of your favourite streaming platforms now. This new single is a sweeping roots rock number with blues inflections. It was recorded and mixed by Dylan Ward at Fredericton’s Shiftwork Studio. Check out our recent article with The Tortoise The Hare and The Millionaire and add their new album to your playlist this week. Find out more here.
That does it for this week’s Zach’s Picks Of The Week here on Canadian Beats. Please do us a favour, head to our main page, and see the many other articles featured this week on our website. I picked my Five favourites, but they may not be for everyone. Pick your own and let me know what you liked on any of our socials. Thank you so much for sticking around to this point; you have just enjoyed (hopefully) Zach’s Picks Of The Week. We will return next Music Monday with more new and exciting Canadian music. So I hope you will be happy and blessed this week and spread some love wherever. PEACE, LOVE, AND GOOD MUSIC, EVERYONE!
