Good Music Monday, everyone!! It’s time once again for a brand new list of music picked by me. Welcome back to “Zach’s Picks Of The Week” on Canadian Beats’s fantastic website. You’re going to find many of the great articles featured here this week. The posts are brought to you by our incredible authors, that are always working hard to bring you the best in Canadian music. So please be sure to visit our website and see all of the other terrific coverage we do here. Thank you for joining us this week, where I have chosen my five favourite songs, artists, and articles. You will get a feel for each of these recommendations in the video posted below. I also recommend you go and visit the links within this post. Enjoy this week’s exciting episode of Zach’s Picks Of The Week!!

Number Five

The first choice of the week goes to a group that I’m glad to see returning with a new single. It’s Breathe Of My Leaves, and they’re back with the lyric video for their latest single, “Avalon.” Be sure to find their second single off their upcoming album on all streaming platforms. The group consists of Vancouver’s Stephano Barberis and Calgary’s Jordan Gant, and these talented songwriters have returned after the last time on my picks of the week. A spirited new song is apparently about a mythical island of kings and warriors. A frenetic statement about having the ardent faith to live true to your ideals. Please be sure to check out the article for the lyric video release of “Avalon” here.

Number Four

Next up on this week‘s pics of the week, we visit Montreal, QC-based synth-pop artist Sheenah Ko. She has unveiled her sophomore full-length album, Future Is Now, to all streaming platforms. Sheenah takes a contemplative and expansive view of how we navigate the world we live in. She’s gained a reputation for being a fearless musical warrior who marches to the beat of her own drum. She has also unveiled a video of her third single off this album called “Give It All.” The video was shot in her home region of Saguenay, Quebec. Showing a dystopian vision of the future centered on facets of modern life, including technology, industry, and pollution. Head over to our website and check out the full article for this release, here.

Number Three

Next, I’m introducing our next artist from Thunder Bay, ON. It’s the pop duo Lockyer Boys, which features brothers Will and Charlie Lockyer playing together. They initially took their first step as a cover band but quickly gained recognition for their incredible harmonies and their multi-instrumental skills. However, they have recently unveiled the latest single and the video to accompany it for “LATKD.” Find it now on all streaming platforms and check out the video in our article. But this new track was written virtually during the COVID pandemic with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Dawson and Alan Poettker from These Kids Wear Crowns. Check out the rest of the article for the full video here.

Number Two

Taking second place, we have the newest album from Manitoba based-artist Emma Peterson up for review by our very own Migs Lava. The EP is called Just For The Record and it’s available now. It is designed to be a record that picks you up off the ground and gets you dancing. With each track beaming with excitement and positivity, it even touches on melancholy subjects like heartache. Head over to the website and check out Migs’ review of the EP here.

Number One

Finally, we have the album review for the latest EP from the Vancouver indie rock group known as Colour Tongues. The new release is Midnight Island, and you can now find it on all streaming platforms. The EP is vivaciously pensive, poppish, and rocking, making for one fun listen. Our own Corey Stumpf gave his honest review of Midnight Island from Colour Tongues on our website. Be sure to check it out here.

I hope that you enjoy those choices as much as I did. Thank you so much for tuning in to Zach’s Picks Of The Week. Like I said before, there are plenty of articles and different coverage on our website. Various interviews, premieres, and show coverage of some of your favourite artists performing live.
