Blackout Orchestra & Krosst Out team up on “Tongues” remix to Save Toronto Music Venues
A true product of musical community and collaboration, this single started life as a mere concept and a spontaneous challenge made by Quickfix a&r Lee Christian while interviewing Ben VanBuskirk for Blackout Orchestra‘s sexy-alt-stomper Valentine’s Day single “Tongues” or any MC to put a verse to their Nas inspired beat and the label would put it out.
Enter charismatic Canadian Alt-Rapper Krosst Out who put his distinctive spin on things to a lush, horn-laden dub plate created by Southern gentleman soul & R’n’B producer and radio host Bushrod (listen here). Inspired by this, Ben reclaimed the track and made a new mix to compliment the new elements, and Voila!
To put the cherry on top of this collaborative community good feeling, the profits from this release will go to Save Toronto Music Venues – a grassroots community organization fighting to keep music alive in Ben’s hometown and musical stomping ground, which by chance hosts a visit from Krosst-Out at The Monarch Tavern tonight (June 3, 2022).
Today is Bandcamp Friday, which means everything earned TODAY will go to Save Toronto Music Venues! So what are you waiting for, buy “Tongues” now!
