blesse shares dual singles, ”perle plastique” and ”amour aride”
Montreal’s blesse stems from the end of Zen Bamboo, whose debut album, GLU was longlisted for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. Léo Leblanc, Charles-Antoine Olivier (aka CAO), and Xavier Touikan’s chemical response to that said end was a creative impulse – today, the newly formed band releases “perle plastique” and “amour aride” via Simone Records.
The bundle of two singles, which comes along with an exhilarating music video, makes us want to look ahead and press the accelerator.
Embodying what’s forbidden, ”perle plastique” and ”amour aride” are deliberately raw and graphic. They propel us into an “after”, testifying to different phases of healing. Written and composed by blesse, the songs are co-produced and mixed by Valentin Ignat.
Directed by blesse and Xavier Bossé, “perle plastique”’s music video offers us an aerial fast motion point of view of the creative process in the studio with the three accomplices, which is intertwined with a plethora of mind-blowing animations created by Liam Hamilton.
blesse will be performing for the very first time on stage on July 23rd, as part of the FRIMAT Festival in Val-d’Or, Quebec.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! This is Léo, Xav and CAO from blesse.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
Our newest released songs are ‘’perle plastique’’ and “amour aride”. These were written with the intention of creating two individual sonic universes that are unique but also coexist (synchronize) in their all-out raw intensity and digital psychedelia. Both tracks speak of the loneliness, paranoia, and hopelessness that follow traumatic life changes.
Where do you tend to pull inspiration from when writing?
For these songs, we were definitely inspired by our reality. We obviously have fun creating surrealist images but the core of these most recent tracks is rooted in our lived experiences.
Do you have any upcoming shows or festivals you’d like to tell us about?
We’re playing the FRIMAT in Val-d’Or on July 23rd, 2022.
What’s your goal for 2022?
Our goal for 2022 is to keep enjoying creating new songs while doing our best at becoming better musicians, writers, and humans every day!
