Vancouver’s Rebel Priest has been bringing its eclectic brand of rock n’ roll to fans for years in a true unadulterated, unapologetic fashion. A little bit greasy, a little bit sassy, but 100% committed, they have released four records, with a fifth on its way this year.
“Lesson In Love” is the name of the upcoming EP as well as the first single, an untraditional ballad, like a love song sung by a Tommy gun. According to the band, it’s about going through the trials and tribulations of loving something – the ups, the downs, the spirals, but without the direct subject being a person. The band explains further:
“It’s open-ended in that it is what you love or love doing and how it’s a journey that can always find a way home. There’s always that one thing in your life that keeps you going, a person, a hobby, a theology. No matter what your vice is, it always comes at a price. You have to go through the blood, sweat, and tears to get what you need outta it and it doesn’t always come easy. This is your education, your lesson in love.”
When people put on the new record, Rebel Priest intends for them to forget about everything else, take a break from the grind, and get pumped! Whether you’re working out, going out, or down and out, put it on and play it loud! Get into it and go wild! Their music is fluid, they find a riff and then follow it where it wants to go. They say it’s just about finding the groove and cruising the wave.
Their new EP comes out on June 24, 2022, via Batcave Records, so stay tuned for that!
Hello earthlings! I am Jayme Black of the interstellar Trash N Roll band Rebel Priest! We have come to turn all your mayo into sriracha mayo and pummel your eardrums with amazing and incredible vibrations from another universe! Nah, we are just your friendly neighborhood Rock n Rollers that might drink all your whiskey and smoke all your dope.
“Lesson In Love” is our newest batch of songs and we are super proud of it, it hits all the spots we love and just comes across like a freight train of all our favourite styles, a true embodiment of what Trash N Roll is, not perfect, not auto-tuned, live off the floor, take no prisoners Trash N Roll! This batch is the best stuff we have done to date! All killer fuck filler.
We make sure we are active on socials but mostly we didn’t want to just fill the void with bs unless we have something to say, too many people think posting shit all the time will help, but we think if there is no substance then your just blowing smoke and wasting peoples time. It’s important to stand by your stuff nowadays, so we only say something when we have something to say. There are too many voices that either need to be heard or won’t shut up so we like to be the nice surprise in a sea of “content”.
Oh shit! Well, that comes down to only like 10! I have had the privilege to work with a lot of my musical idols in Canada and it was always an amazing time, I’d have to say The Tragically Hip or Colin James but the I wanna work with some new guys like Danoo Jones and The Wild! So it’s hard to choose, we have some amazing talent in Canada but if you put a gun to my head I would have to say, Colin James.
Play as many shows as possible and get back out there! Make some noise and new friends, work on some new songs, and see all our old friends! Get Rollin so we can keep Rockin!!!
