Angelica Appelman, the Kitchener, ON-based singer-songwriter, shares her new single, “Guilt Trip,” which follows her previous release, “Happy Place.”
“Guilt Trip” is a pep talk. If you don’t feel like you’re being treated fairly or given the space you deserve, it’s time to fight back and take what’s yours,” says Appelman.
Drawing on the experiences many people face when pursuing their dream and balancing the expectations of being a female artist in country music, Angelica wants listeners to feel empowered by “Guilt Trip.”
“This song is for anyone who’s ever felt like they’ve been underestimated or not given a chance because of who they are,” says Angelica.
Teaming up with Ontario-based artists Jessie T, Amanda Kind, and Matt Koebel (who also produced the track), the co-writers drew on their experiences as women in the music industry and creative minds who have chosen a competitive career path. “Guilt Trip” touches on being underestimated, looked over, and taken advantage of, something many people face in their professions.
Angelica has been hard at work on her debut EP, A Reason or a Season, which will include “Happy Place” and “Guilt Trip,” along with a summer single, set for July release, and more.
This summer, you can catch Angelica on several stages, including Harmoniafest and Love Revolution Festival, with more show announcements coming soon!
