Oleyada, an indie-pop artist from Toronto, Ontario released her first single in 2020, “Pick Up The Phone“, after being holed up with producer and partner, Mathew Fantini during the pandemic. She developed her sound and quirky lyrical style through that time.
Since then, she’s been working on an EP, collaborating with other artists, and has had her music featured on CBC’s popular television show, “Strays” and “Workin’ Moms.”
The original track “Dig Yourself” was released on October 13, 2021. It’s an upbeat, positive ‘self-love’ anthem inspired by 2000s indie-rock and modern pop.
Shaq Hosein filmed a live video to promote Oleyada’s performance at the Mississauga Celebration Square Amphitheatre. The version took place in Kariya Park, Mississauga, with Malik Mungo (The Free Label) on guitar.
While waiting to get other tracks ready for release, Oleyada and Mathew Fantini kept coming back to this “Dig Yourself” performance, falling more in love with the version and outdoor atmosphere of the track. Finally, they decided to release it on all platforms.
