Metro Metro started off with a bang yesterday in Montreal! The Esplanade of the Olympic Stadium filled with a few thousands rap fans, ready to rage on this warm Friday evening. The lineup for the day started with Canadian talents: Toronto’s 3MFrench, the bubbly Calamine (the only woman on the main stage for the day), Montreal’s Nate Husser and Quebec rap power duo Koriass Fouki.
During the first US act of the night, Lil Pump, the crowd started getting more agitated. The festival’s organizers had to pause the show to ask people to back away, evacuating people who weren’t feeling well and handing out water. Metro Metro took control of things right on time, to go back to a friendly rager and stay away from a potential tragedy. Once things calmed down, top-of-bill acts A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Brampton’s Tory Lanez and Ohio’s Trippie Redd ended a night on a high note. Crowdsurfing, pyrotechnics, CO2, all the stops were pulled to make the stage at the bottom of the Olympic Stadium shine in the night!
Having dealt with last-minute lineup changes (like Tory Lanez and Trippie Redd replacing Youngthug), the festival announced a big surprise for Sunday: Playboi Carti cannot make it anymore, and will be replaced by the legendary 50 Cent! Our team will be at the festival the whole weekend, so stay tuned for our recaps!
Hi there! My name is Marie, I am French born and raised, now living in Montreal. I work in Marketing by day, and I’m an avid concert-goer by night. I have always had a passion for photography, and realized that this mixes quite well with my love for live music (the absolute best way to experience music, if you ask me).
