Jasmyn releases new single, “Cruel Moon”

Energetic indie-pop artist, Jasmyn is the new solo project of former singer-songwriter and frontwoman of the critically acclaimed Toronto band Weaves. She has recently unveiled her single, “Cruel Moon”, along with a new lyric video that features an animated Jasmyn dancing and vibing out to the track.

“I wrote this song during this moment when I was so tired of staying indoors most of the time and having this pulling instinct of wanting something new for myself,” Jasmyn explained. “I felt almost like I was in an escape room with no door out. So this song was about imagining having this out of body experience where I was going outside and moving and just peeling off layers and making room for a new identity, dancing my way through the growing pains.”

Jasmyn is set to release her debut solo album, In The Wild on June 3, 2022, via Royal Mountain Records. She worked with Grammy award-winning producer John Congleton on the record to create a sonic universe that reflected the ebbs and flows of a transitional chapter, where she could be free to create whatever felt right in that moment.

While there’s a continual middle ground that threads itself throughout the album, In The Wild makes room for the quieter, introspective moments, as well as the booming, blossoming catharsis.

“I wanted to create songs that would help people feel a type of confidence in themselves,” she says.

This summer Jasmyn will embark on some of her first-ever performances under her own name, including two Canadian shows in June and a run of East Coast US dates in July and August with Brooklyn’s Air Waves.
