Ann@lise releases acoustic performance video for “User Friendly”

Montreal, QC-based Ann@lise has unveiled a stunning acoustic video for her track, “User Friendly” from her recently released EP, Welcome To The Sh!t Show.

Stripping back the song to its bare essence, consisting of just piano and her vocals, the acoustic performance serves to not only highlight her vocal prowess and lend a greater emphasis to the painful realizations tucked away in the lyrics, but it also shows a vulnerable side to the outspoken and feisty artist.

The intensely personal song sees the singer-songwriter reflecting on toxic relationships from her past, intending it to serve as a cautionary tale, as opposed to self-deprecating, in a bid to help reconcile uncomfortable truths about the motives of others.

Ann@lise shares,

“You don’t always see the true colours of others right away, and that’s what this song touches upon. I’d like to think we all emerge stronger and wiser from those kinds of situations. Nonetheless, it was something I needed to get off my chest and to let those people hear first-hand how those experiences shaped me.”
