Manitoba-based artist, Emma Peterson is quickly becoming an artist to watch on Canada’s country circuit.
With the release of her debut album Just For The Record anticipated later this spring, Emma is excited to announce her Just For The Record Release Tour across Manitoba this fall. Hitting stages in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Dauphin, Emma will be performing the new record front to back.
“I am so excited for the Just For The Record Release Tour. When the pandemic hit, the one thing I missed the most was sharing my music with others,” Emma shares. “I spent the time off to finish my nursing career and work in the COVID unit – and also wrote songs for this new project. Being able to go on tour and share this new project with my home province feels so good! I can’t wait to connect with everyone in person! “

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Of course! My name is Emma Peterson and I’m a country singer/songwriter from Manitoba. I grew up in the small town of Winnipegosis, Manitoba. I’ve been singing and performing for as long as I can remember. Most recently I have been preparing for my upcoming debut album release and tour! I also finished my nursing degree in 2021 and have been working in the COVID unit and Public Health. Best of both worlds!
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
I am so excited for my upcoming debut album release ‘Just For The Record’. It is a collection of songs I am so proud of! Some of my favourite tracks on the album include “Backroad Dreams” – a song about young love and understanding how things don’t always work out. “Just For The Record” is a song about finding the good in goodbye, and in this case, it was a great song! I can’t wait for everyone to hear them!
When it comes to the global pandemic, how are you keeping yourself out in the public eye while not being able to perform?
Social media has been an amazing tool to stay connected with others during the pandemic. The pandemic has also given me time to work on my songwriting! Though the pandemic has made things more challenging, it has shown you can connect with people in so many other ways!
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so if you were able to work with ONE fellow Canadian artist, alive or dead, who would you choose?
Shania Twain! I grew up listening to Shania and looking up to her. She puts on amazing performances and is an incredible songwriter. She has an amazing story and inspires so many female artists in Canada. I also am a big fan of Donovan woods and would love to write with him one day!
What’s your goal for 2022?
Some of my goals for 2022 include promoting my debut album release ‘Just For The Record’, going on my first tour, and connecting with my audience! I am so grateful I get to do this and I can’t wait for what’s to come this year!
