Show Review – The Anti-Queens, Wasting Time & School Damage in Toronto, ON

Who: The Anti-Queens, Wasting Time, Schoool Damage
When: March 25, 2022
Where: Hard Luck Bar, Toronto ON

Friday night in West Toronto, a Punk Rock Show took over the Hard Luck Bar. This small venue was alive with musicians and patrons who were grateful to be back at a live show. No shortage of energy both from the performers, and the crowd surfing audience.

Wasting Time, from the streets of Toronto, started the night off with Pop Punk. Emanating from Vlad on vocals, Mike on bass, and new member Nick on drums. With nods to Green Day, Alternative rhythms, and a smooth sound, these Lads set the tone for the night.

School Damage, also Toronto natives, who have been playing since 2011, saved the third time slot at Hard Luck, at the last minute. This melodic trio provides traditional Punk Rock rhythms and loud lingering choruses. Brad Manners on vocals, Jon Cabatan on Bass, and Den Den Lee on percussion. Buckle up for a brimming Punk Punch.

The Anti-Queens, veterans of the Toronto Punk scene, know how to capture the audience’s attention, and hold it for the whole night. These ladies command an impressive stage presence, with fellow first-name frontwoman, Emily Bones on vocals, Valerie Knox on Lead Guitar while providing killer backing vocals, and new member Zoe McMillan, on Drums, charged in with an amazing drum solo. Also, fellow Canadian Beats Photog Michael El Crusty from Crusty Media lent his Bass groove for the night. Leaning on epic rock yells, channeling Courtney Love and Joan Jet, these Ladies know how to put on one hell of a killer show.
