Toronto, ON-based rapper and singer, Nue has recently unveiled his single, “Demon Child” from his upcoming full-length album, Playground, due in 2022 via Wax Records and Republic Records (UMG Worldwide).
The song’s title and subject matter has nothing to do with Nue being persistently tormenting, but rather is about an artist utilizing a creative outlet like music to express himself in a raw and uncompromising way, over some fluttering guitar strums and more memorable beats.
“My life inspired the song. It’s just really, really honest. I was going through a lot at the time with relationships,” explains Nue, the former first and only Canadian artist to sign with 300 Entertainment (Migos, Young Thug), who has collaborated with Pressa and toured with Fetty Wap. “It’s really proud and unapologetic. I felt very misunderstood and I just didn’t really care about opinions. I more so was embracing things said or thought about me, even if not true. Unintentionally I think I was trying to just let it all out there and give the listener comfort in my unfiltered self-deprecation.”

Hi, I’m Nue, Canada’s biggest rockstar.
Tell us a bit about your most recent release.
My life is inspired by the song. It’s just really, really honest. I was going through a lot at the time with relationships. It’s really proud and unapologetic. Felt very misunderstood and I don’t give a fuck about opinions. I more so was embracing things said or thought about me even if they’re not true.
When it comes to the global pandemic, how are you keeping yourself out in the public eye while not being able to perform?
The pandemic sucks obviously, but I was actually able to throw the craziest show in September in Toronto. People have been telling me it was the best show in the city all year.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so if you were able to work with ONE fellow Canadian artist, alive or dead, who would you choose?
Snow or uhh Celine Dion
What’s your goal for 2022?
I’m just trying to grow as an artist. Put out multiple projects, my album, Playground is done and is coming soon. I’m doing bigger festivals this summer and can’t wait to get back out in front of the people.
