First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Selena Victoria Polutnik, I’m a singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario. I work with well-known producers who have worked with household names like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera. Music has always been my passion, it’s always given me a purpose to not only achieve my dreams but to make a difference in this world for many reasons. I currently record my songs in Toronto and I work with a very talented team to create such incredible music. To date, I have multiple songs out and have received such amazing success from each. From being on iHeartRadio, to getting many of my singles in the Top 20 Pop Chart, and Best Summer Hits of 2020 via iHeart Radio to hitting the Pop Top 40 Chart in Switzerland, with many radio interviews, a variety of press and promotion articles, and features in magazines such as; 6ixMagazine, American Pride Magazine, British Invasian Magazine – just to name a few. I am beyond proud of the success I have had thus far. I look forward to so much more.

You have recently released your single “Fortune Teller” what can you tell us about the track?

“Fortune Teller” tells the story of a beautiful nightmare. A story of a love that consumes you, a fever we can’t shake. A love so intoxicating yet so passionate we’d do anything to keep it. It symbolizes a love we all experience at least once in our lives. A hypnotic, intense, suffocating, irresistible kind of love we all crave. Yet it can drive us to the ends of insanity. Despite knowing the outcome each time, you still let them back in even if you know they’ll hurt you again. It’s a beautiful nightmare you can’t escape. You can’t stop the cycle until it’s yourself who makes the conscious decision to do so and follow through.

“Fortune Teller” has been featured on many radio programs, how does it feel to hear yourself on the radio?

It’s surreal and a dream come true. I have immense gratitude for all of the platforms, articles, blogs, radio stations, magazines, and more that have featured this beautiful creation. All I’ve ever wanted was to be a voice for others. I want my audience to interpret my music in whichever way it resonates with their situation. To be not only relatable but comforting – because that’s what music has always been for me.

Where do you tend to pull musical influences from?

I grew up loving and listening to all genres of music. I believe art should be appreciated in all of its forms. My musical influences lately have been Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Khalid, and many more. I’m inspired by every genre truly. I write and record mostly Pop, RNB and EDM. However, I love listening to Alternative Rock, Grunge, Jazz, Punk Rock, Hip Hop and I grew up loving 80s music so I’m definitely heavily influenced by a lot of different artists.

What next for you in 2022?

My plans for 2022 definitely include recording and releasing new music. I have a bunch of new projects coming up that I’m very excited about. A new music video I am super stoked for everyone to see! More radio interviews, press interview articles. And honestly, I would love to tour very soon. It would be an absolute dream come true.
