Five Questions With Conro

Canadian producer Conro (aka Conor Patton) has unveiled his new catchy pop-punk single, “find u.” via Monstercat. Featuring vocals by Conro himself, the electric track showcases his artistic versatility as he explores a new sonic style. Drawing on formative bands from his teenage years, Conro channels his raw emotions into “find u.,” transforming them into vibrant melodies, crisp percussion, and powerful guitar riffs. Following a year of personal and artistic growth, Conro is stepping into 2022 with a fresh perspective, introducing a more vulnerable side to his project.

Conro shares,

“I’m so excited to start the year off with “find u.” I haven’t ever been so vulnerable with my music before. I’m stoked to see how people receive it! I’m really proud of this one and hope whoever gets a chance to listen will be able to connect with it in their own way! Happy New Year!”

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey, I’m Conro, and I love writing music! I’ve lived all across Canada and have played all sorts of shows around the world! I play all types of instruments and sing. I’ve played in bands and even an orchestra way back in the day. Currently, I live in Vernon BC Canada. I love sports and I can ride a unicycle. I was also homeschooled.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

I love energy and melodies. I usually start my writing process on piano or guitar and jam out until I find something that tickles my ears in a positive way. I’ve also started with my lyrics first; find a nice key to sing, then build a song around that! There are no wrong ways to write or create. My only requirement is that while I’m writing if it doesn’t get me off my seat and grooving in the studio, I should probably shelf the song and come back to it at a later date.

How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?

I was kinda drained creatively for most of the pandemic. I wrote a lot of things that will probably never see the light of day, just because I feel that I have a lot more interesting things to write about personally. I did play a LOT of basketball and spent time lots of time outside. Trying to keep some sanity!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Hard question. I think it would be…. Well, I’ve evolved as an artist, so through each style, I’ve messed around in there are a few stand-out songs. I’ve always loved “Take Me There,” “Therapy,” and “All Eyes on Me.” I love writing each song, they are like little journal entries in my life. I know where I was mentally, physically, and emotionally. I love going back and listening to oldies and remembering where I was and what I was doing!

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I will always love Sam Roberts and while I’m going old school, throw in some Sunday Morning – K-OS
