25-year-old Ethiopian-Canadian singer and songwriter Ruth B. is excited to share a Deluxe Special Edition of her recent album Moments In Between, executive produced by Patrick Wimberly (Beyonce, Solange, Blood Orange, Ellie Goulding) on Downtown Records / The Orchard. The album is a raw emotional accounting of the anxieties and uncertainty Ruth faces as a woman in her mid-twenties, giving voice to her inner strife via warm vocals, shapeshifting textures, and hazy harmonies.
Moments In Between Deluxe Special Edition features four previously unreleased versions of Ruth’s most popular singles, including remixes of “Dirty Nikes” by Grammy award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco and “Situation” by popular electronic duo smle. The Deluxe also features beautiful live renditions recorded during a special rooftop session in New York of “Spaceship” and “Dandelions”, which has over 265 billion streams to date and is streaming over 7.5M a week and growing.
From woozy R&B and pop beats to guitar-driven tracks and folk-like reveries, the songs on Moments In Between showcase Ruth B.’s ability to seamlessly traverse a multitude of musical stylings. Ruth B. credits her songwriting and storytelling abilities to her upbringing as the daughter of Ethiopian immigrants, listening to the music of her parents’ homeland alongside American icons like Stevie Wonder and Lauryn Hill. For this project, Ruth also worked with producers Justin Raisen (Angel Olsen, Santigold) and Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Ashe) who encouraged her to dig deeper in the writing and recording process than she ever has before.
Ruth B.’s brutally honest perspective and poetic countenance continues to turn heads, with her catalog garnering over 2 billion global streams. She made a huge splash with her debut EP The Intro, winning the JUNO award for “Breakthrough Artist” in 2017 and amassing several nominations including “Fan Choice” and “Songwriter of the Year” for “Lost Boy”, “Superficial Love” and “2 Poor Kids”. She was also nominated in 3 major JUNO Award categories in 2018: “Artist of the Year”, “Album of the Year” and “Pop Album of the Year” for Safe Haven which is certified GOLD in Canada and the U.S. Her debut single “Lost Boy” is also certified an incredible 6x Platinum in Canada and 4x Platinum in the U.S.
In May, Ruth B. performed a Global Digital Tour, in partnership with Moment House. Moment House is a premium digital live platform that connects artists and their core fans for global, elevated ticketed experiences called Moments. Ruth hosted exclusive Moments for several different areas/regions: North & South America, Asia, Australia & New Zealand, and Europe, UK & Africa.
