Vancouver, BC-based artist, Kays has unveiled his latest EP, Heavenly Race. This release marks the second EP from the afro-fusion artist.
Just last year, the young singer-songwriter debuted his first EP, No Underrated. His latest EP delivers a similar sound, blending Afro-pop and hip-hop to develop a signature afro-fusion style. Consciously pieced together over the past five years, this 10-track EP tells the story of the Nigerian-born man who came from nothing and made a name for himself. For Kays, Heavenly Race is about much more than simply releasing new music, this EP represents the opportunity to share his story with the world and inspire others to follow their true calling. As Kay describes, “Everything included in this EP comes from past or present experiences and the emotions I am trying to let go.”
Although this EP is just being released, Kay hints to a third EP already in the works,
“Heavenly Race is not the end, I am just getting started,” said Kays.

Hello, I go by the name of Kays, I am an independent artist, songwriter, and producer. I am originally from Nigeria, Lagos to be specific, But I reside here in Vancouver, Canada.
I am music and you will get to know me more by listening to the many projects out now and the latest EP “Heavenly Race” which has 10 songs. Yours sincerely, Kays.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Music has always been a part of me from the motherland to the true north strong and free, You will find my sound is unique and never heard before. My sound consists of many genres but there is only one Kays. You can take the man out of Africa but you cannot take the African sound out of me. If you like Afro-Fusion, Afro Beats, Afro Pop, Dance Hall, Raga, etc, I am the Man.
I have passion behind every track with them all being true stories of my life to date There is something for everyone to relate to. No matter where you’re from or what colour you are.
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
The Pandemic hasn’t really affected me personally, if anything it has improved my music by staying home and writing which is what I have always done anyway. I stay meditated and medicated with the herbs and locked in the studio. Opening my company here has always been my goal so I live, sleep and breathe Kays Nation.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Conquer. This is my theme song to life, I stand strong and conquer through all trials and tribulations. I want to inspire my people to feel the same way. Never give up and anything you do, Conquer it.
Just know that life is always happening for you and not to you.
