Tecumseh, ON-based 16-year-old country artist, Carson Janik released his single, “Better Than That” in January, and is set to release his 7-song EP later this year.
Carson comes from a long line of diverse musical family members including established guitar, piano, drum, brass, and string players as well as seasoned recording artists, vocal, stage, choir, and opera performers that span just about every genre of music.
Although Carson was initially drawn to pop music, playing the piano and singing along to the likes of Shawn Mendes and Bruno Mars, once he heard his first Luke Combs song, he was immediately drawn to country music, and as they would say, the rest is history.

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Carson Janik. I’m 16 years old and I’m from Tecumseh, Ontario. I am working my way into the country music scene with my debut radio single and ensuing EP. I’m also currently a student in grade 11.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I am a modern country musician and my music falls between the pop-country and rock-country sub-genres. I tend to write more upbeat, in-your-face types of songs….something you can crank up the volume to. But I also have some more mellow songs in my library. I don’t believe that I have a unique writing style, I usually start writing with a melody/chords and work some lyrical ideas in. I’m pretty straightforward and real with what I put on paper when I’m writing.
How have you been keeping creative during the Pandemic?
Not playing any live shows has been difficult but the silver lining was being able to write and write and write. I was able to get into the studio in 2020 and what started out as 2 singles ended up turning into my debut 7 song EP, which will be released in summer 2021.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
That’s a good question. My debut release to radio ‘Better Than That’ is the obvious pick for now, but the next couple of singles I’m planning to release are gonna be on the ‘must hear ‘list.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?
Being a country artist, I do gravitate to this genre…..Canada has so many great established artists and up-and-comers. I’d have to say the Reklaws and Buck Twenty are always on my playlists and a long-time listener to Marianas Trench. Those guys were actually my first real concert experience!
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
